This is one of those outfits that I thought was "daring" when I put it on because I was mixing all kinds of prints, but now that I see the pictures, I'm wondering if the fact that all the prints were the same color makes it look too "matchy-matchy." I do like the plaid and the boots together. I love these boots! I'm going to have to find ways to incorporate them into more outfits... especially since I spent too much money on them back when I was single. They are comfy, though, and I think they're pretty stylin'! I also love this bag I got super cheap on Black Friday. I decided I needed a cross-body bag for our trip to San Antonio. Why did I not jump on this bandwagon before? Cross- body bags are SO convenient. I carried this bag while I was sorting through racks of stuff at Goodwill and it was so much better than having my bag constantly fall off my shoulder. Definitely a winner in my book!

It's my birthday today!!! The only reason I'm announcing it like this is because this year I'm actually excited about my birthday! Last year, my birthday was 3 days after N went back to Afghanistan to finish out a 1 year deployement. On top of that, it was a "getting old" milestone birthday. But I got through that, and this year I get to spend my birthday with my husband. We're even going on a little get-away to San Antonio for a couple of days. I'm so excited that I'm not even bummed about getting older... well, not that much anyway! For my birthday, I thought I'd share a few pictures from my kiddo days with you. Enjoy!

In A Splash Of Colors

Woo-hoo!! Sundays are such fun days for me! Not only do I get to go to church, but I get to express myself with as many colors I want!! When I saw this dress while out shopping with J this summer, I fell in love!!! I love the array of colors and the fact that I could pair it up with just about any color accessory! In the morning I wore some cute strappy black sandals, but by the evening service I was much too tired to walk to church in heels, so I opted for my purple flats instead. I think my favorite compliment of the day was, “Wow, you are colorful today!”

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

When I took these pictures, I was getting ready to go in for a (very) minor surgical procedure on my shoulder, so I knew it would be the last outfit picture I took for a couple of days (I didn't figure my pjs would count as an outfit). I wanted to get in the Christmas spirit, so I reached for an outfit in classic Christmas colors. I know that mixing these two plaids isn't the boldest choice by some standards, but I'm taking baby steps here, people. I love this vest I found a few months ago. One thing I didn't realize about down filled items, though, is that the tiny little feathers work their way out of the fabric and poke you... and fall all the way out... and drift around you like your own private snow storm. Which is a little awkward when you're walking through the grocery store.... 
My shoulder is healing nicely, and I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm really looking forward to this season and the things that M and I have planned for the blog. I hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the holidays and making lots of memories!

Something borrowed, something blue…well, I had the borrowed part at any rate. Weddings are such fun events to attend! I enjoy dressing up all fancy, but unfortunately, I don’t have my full wardrobe here in Mexico. So I opted for this cute red lace top that matched perfectly with….the wedding party (which turned out to be a good thing since I caught the bouquet!)!! May I just say that if you have never taken 18 girls to a formal event, you have never lived! What fun it was to run around after them in my borrowed heels. In actuality, they were well mannered, but any time you have that many people with you, trust me, it is craziness! I included a picture of my Mexican family all dressed up and ready to party! Also you can give me your opinion on my future husband who caught the tie, so we are destined to be married (the only problem is that he is 13 years younger than me)

Does anyone else ever have those outfits that look awesome in your head, but then in real life, they're not quite as awesome as you envisioned them? This is one of those outfits. I think it's because I tucked the undershirt in and the cardigan ended at a weird place. I still really love this skirt, though. I've worn it in the summer with a turquoise top and yellow accessories. I do have a turquoise sweater... hmmm... maybe I'll try that next time!

Coffee and Snowmen

Gotta love working in foreign countries because you get all kind of days off for their holidays and if you work for an American like I do, you also get the American holidays off!! So Monday was one of those days off, kinda. I took a couple of the teen girls from my house to go print some of the millions of pictures we took at the wedding . I thought we should be able to do this in like 30 minutes or so…oh, but I forgot I was not in the USA! Well, almost 2 hours later, we finished the picture printing. 

Then, it was off to Starbucks- I needed a bit of America after that craziness! To my delight, Starbucks had holiday flavors. As you can see by my photos, I thoroughly enjoyed my cherry Mocha frappe!!! Another fun surprise was the cool snowman- I had to take a picture with him, since he is the closest thing I will get to snow here in Mexico. I might add that my photographer was less than thrilled that I wanted so many pictures... teenagers!!! What a fun Monday!
