Lunchtime Snafu (#28 of 30 for 30)

When I took these pictures, I was hurrying on my way to take lunch to N at work. Here's what happened: someone accidentally took N's PT jacket at work... his jacket that had all of his stuff in the pocket (wallet, keys, etc.). So, he had no way to go get lunch while he tried to figure out who had his jacket. Meanwhile, I had just got home from the gym and needed to shower and change. So I quickly threw on some "normal" (i.e. non-gym) clothes and took N lunch- that's why my hair looks a little yucky in these pictures. It all got ironed out- N's jacket was returned (as I pulled into the parking lot) and I got to go back home and clean up a little more. Just another adventure in the life of N & J (and another exmple of God taking care of us... it would have been a HUGE hassle if N's wallet was lost)!

Sand As Far As The Eye Can See (#25 of 30 for 30)

These pictures are from the trip that my husband and I took this weekend to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. I had been before, but it was a loooong time ago, and N had never been. As you can see from the pictures, we also took our dog Mona. We had such a great time! We spent a couple of hours just hiking the sand dunes... and of course, eating a picnic lunch! 


I had another outfit picked out originally, but it wasn't warm enough. I was assuming that the dunes would be a lot warmer since the white sand reflects the sun, but it was only like 55 there, so the cotton dress I had on wasn't going to cut it! This outfit was a little plain, but it was comfy and perfect for a day at the dunes!

Flip Flop Weather (#15 of 30 for 30)

This outfit was from a lazy Monday. My husband had the day off of work since it was MLK Day and we decided to head out to Savers to check out their 50% off sale. We were hoping to find a leather jacket for N, but we didn't really find any we liked. We did find some books, a planner, and a bowling ball complete with a really cool carrying bag. When we went to pay for the ball, the cashier couldn't ring it up because there was no price sticker... :( So my really awesome find was a no-go. Maybe I'll go back and see if they still have that bowling ball... hmmm...

I was trying to get away from wearing a denim skirt every single day, so I went with this long black skirt (that I see now should have been ironed a little more carefully). It was warm enough to wear flip flops, so I got to break out my old summer stand-bys. All in all, it was a fun, relaxing day!

Welsh Pears (#6 of 30 for 30)

Did you know that Paisley is sometimes referred to as "Welsh Pears" or "Persian Pickles" and that it originated in Iran and India, but takes its name from a town in Scotland? Interesting, right? Glad I could help you learn something new today ;)

We're picking up our turtle this next weekend from my cousin who has been watching him for us, so we have been trying to get everything set up. I bought a cabinet thingie (technical DIY name) at Goodwill for $15 and we bought a couple of pieces of shelving lumber at Lowe's. N attached the lumber to the top of the cabinet and now we have a stand for Fishsticky (our turtle). I just need to decide what color to paint it... and no, painting clothes don't count as part of the 30 for 30 challenge!

Purple Paisley Power

Since I was a little girl, I've always said that purple was my favorite color. It's only been recently, though, that I've really worn it much. This fall, for some reason, I've really fallen in love all over again with purple. And... I'm not alone! Pantone named "phlox" a fashion trend color of the season. I saw this dress at Target when it first came out, when it was about $40 (I think). I know, I know, $40 is not that much for a dress, but I always like to see if I can get a better price. Well, a few months ago, the Target near me had a HUGE sale, and I found this baby for $14! $14! How exciting! Here, I've paired it with a cream sweater & cowboy boots (why not?). This dress is seriously so comfortable and one of those things you can dress up or down for different occasions. Love it!
*Side note- I know the quality of these photos is not the greatest, but it was already dark outside so I had to make do with the light in my kitchen/ laundry room. AND, you get to see Mona again!
