A Little Pampering

Don't just LOVE it when you find a SUPER great deal on something at the thrift store? Well, I know I do! My problem this time around was that I found too many super good deals! Of course, I blame J! She kept finding all this great stuff and showing it to me! Actually, she was the one who found this great skirt! I was debating on whether or not to buy it, but I could not pass up this great DKNY skirt at such a good price since I REALLY needed a new denim skirt!

I wanted to add some color to this outfit, so I decided to try something new. I re-purposed a cloth headband as a scarf! I really liked how it looked. I have several of these headbands and do believe that I will be doing this again!

I really enjoyed spending time with J in El Paso! It is always great to get together with long-time friends! What could be more fun than getting pedicures and lunch at Olive Garden...two of my favorite things! All-in-all a SUPER fun day!

My vacation is winding down, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of posting things. We've been in Arizona this past weekend picking up our animals from my parents' house and enjoying visiting with some of my nieces and nephews. Fun times!

I don't usually wear a lot of yellow, but I was singing a special with one of my friends at church, and we decided to wear yellow and black and white. Since I didn't really have a lot of yellow clothes, I ran to Goodwill and got this tee shirt for $2... pretty good deal, I think! And I don't look THAT much like a bumblebee... ;)

A couple of weeks ago I went to the eye doctor... I've known for a while that I am extremely near sighted in one eye. It hasn't been a problem until recently, when I noticed that the TV is blurry sometimes at night... I'm getting old, I guess! ;) ANYWAY.... I ended up getting glasses for when I feel like my eyes are tired... or when I want to use them as a fashion accessory (my words, not the doctor's). I was able to get a really good deal through firmoo.com and I really like my new spectacles... what do you think?

I also really love this skirt I found at Goodwill a while back- it's very light and flowy. Perfect for summer! I wanted to wear this red shirt, but didn't want to pair it with plain ol' white this time, so I dug around until I found this yellow tank buried way in the back of my dresser. Tada- mustard and ketchup! ;)

Neon Lite

I have to admit- I'm not sure if I really consider this "neon" per se... maybe "neon lite"... get it? Hardy har har! But Everybody Everywear is wearing neon today, so I wanted to try to do something at least neon-ish. I'm actually a tiny little bit proud of myself for putting this together since I usually like my outfits to "match" a little more than this. But, on this day, I just picked all of the colors that I like and put them together!

We had some friends in from out of town who wanted to see the historic parts of El Paso, so I did a little quick research and off we went to Sunset Heights and then to downtown. My husband brought along our camera and got some great shots! I actually did a little more research and was able to find out a little bit more information about some of the buildings.

The Kress Building-  built in 1937 for the Kress five and dime store chain. The
architect designed the store to pay homage to the many different cultures
in El Paso.

The El Paso Gas Company building- when the company was using the building,
they would light up the blue flame on top, but use
different colors to indicate what the weather the next day was
supposed to be.

The Roberts Banner building, built in 1910.

The  Fairview Apartments , formerly known as the Caruso
Apartments. These were designed by Henry Trost, an architect
who designed many of the downtown buildings, and many
other buildings all over the southwest.

Red On Yellow

Another fun filled day of eating and shopping while I was home! The amazing thing is since I have been back in Mexico everybody keeps asking me if I have lost weight...lol.  This day started off right with a trip to Starbucks and then breakfast at a fantastic diner called Egg on your Face. Then, out to the outlet malls, where once again I shopped until I dropped...and David just dropped the money...teasing! I only got a pair of shoes and a dress... and only because David really loved them!! This is the advantage of trying on clothes and modeling them for your boyfriend...hee hee :)

As for my outfit, I LOVE this shade of yellow... but, I'm not sure I will wear this particular tank again since my brother told me I looked like I was pregnant...or I could just save it to wear when I am pregnant (which will not be for a VERY long time!!) Oh, and for anyone who might be thinking that my red purse does not "go with my outfit," Coach happens to match with everything! At least, that is what I think. ;)

Tucker Top

I was really unsure about this outfit because I don't usually tuck my tops in... when I made this skirt, I "borrowed" (ok, fine, STOLE) the waistband off of another skirt I never wear. I figured that it was ok that the waistband was black because it would never show. But, when it was all said and done, I kind of liked how the black against the bright colors made the colors pop even more. So I had to try the black waist against the spring-y colors! I'm still not too sure if I like it or not.... maybe I'll try it again sometime!

I'm finally getting around to posting my Easter outfit. I usually get a new dress or outfit every year for  Easter, but I had this dress that I had only worn once, and never since we've moved to El Paso, so I thought I'd save some money and just wear what I already had. I love the colors of this dress- so springy & one of my favorite color combos. I should try to wear this at least one more time before spring is over!

This was such a fun night! The theme of the ladies' conference at our church was FROG (fully rely on God), and everything went along with the theme perfectly! The tables had frogs and lily pads scattered all over them, and the gym was decorated with tons of greenery... there was even a frog and cricket soundtrack playing! I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures of the gym, so you'll just have to take my word for it... bummer...


I sang with the Ladies' Ensemble, so I wanted to make sure I "went" with the whole green theme... I had fabric left over from a dress I made last year, so I made this skirt that would match with all of the colors I wanted to wear. I also found the straw clutch at Goodwill... and it was half off! So I ended up paying $2 for it! $2!!! Love me some thrift stores! ;)

Another fun day during the visit of my friends!! We went downtown to explore...and explore we did!! I accidentally got lost, but it turned out okay since we wound up getting to where I wanted to go reguardless of the round about way we went. As a bonus of getting lost, we stumbled across the Guagalajara Library. Beautiful setting for blog pictures, don't you think? I decided to try to look super studious, but in the end, I wound up with books with all pictures in them...I must say they were WAY more interesting!!

This was going to be one of my posts during our month of colors, but since I had no means of emailing it to J it during the yellow week, it got saved for a later date!
Yellow and grey together is one of my fave color combos! I like the belt, but I am not really sure I like how the undershirt looks in the pictures...oh well, live and learn right! I included a picture of one of my cute little kindergardeners since they decided to come in and interrupt my photo shoot...lol
