(Cute Little) Dog Days

Who: J (and Mona!)
When: 11/15/11
Where: Visitation for church
What: *Denim jacket- gift *Orange plaid skirt- Cato's (2007), approx. $20 *Brown boots- Chadwicks (2004), approx. $50 *Tooled leather belt- thrifted, $2 *Brown scarf- N's Army scarf, free to me! *Silver cowboy boot earrings- gift from parents from Tombstone

I'm not sure I should model with Mona anymore... she steals the show! I love our little (well, not so little) pit/ shepherd mix. She always has to be in the middle of everything, and since I took these pictures inside, she had to be in the middle of the shots as well. So... now everybody gets to see how cute she is!
Some of these items of clothing are pretty old... well, for me anyway. These boots are from waaaay back in my teaching days in Willcox. They've held up pretty well- just a few scratches from my naughty kitty who likes to sharpen her claws on leather.... grrr! I don't remember exactly how much they cost, but I do remember I bought them on sale at the end of the season. Not a bad price for something that has lasted this long!

Flower Power

What: *Black skirt-Geoffrey Beane, gift from my sister *White shirt- thrifted, $2 *Purple undershirt- Worthingtons, $5 *Black Mary Jane type shoes- gift *Jewelry- gift *Purple flowered bobby pins- Charming Charlies, $1

This is a pretty straight forward outfit that I accented with the big flower necklace and earrings. I am in real need of a haircut... just to find the time to do it... So I decided to try to pull as much of the offending mess into some sort of style.
The last picture is me teaching some of my cute kids.

Double Scarves

Who: J
When: 11/14/11
Where: Grocery shopping
What: *Blue hooded sweater- Kmart, on sale for $11 *Purple and black scarf- gift from my inlaws *Purple knitted scarf- gift from my former boss *Denim skirt- thrifted and shortened, $5 *Purple flats- thrifted, $3 *Silver hoops- I honestly don't remember where they came from or how much they were *Purse- Coach, gift from N

A while back, I saw someone on a style blog wearing two scarves and I thought it looked fantastic... I just can't remember where... but I promise I saw it!! I didn't just make it up as an excuse to wear two scarves at once! I should have pinned it to my pinterest, but I didn't. Anyways... this is my take on double scarves.
I used to wear these hoop earrings all the time. Seriously, like ALL the time. They were kind of "my thing." I don't wear them as much anymore, but I do still like them. Silver hoops just seem like they go with pretty much everything and finish off an outfit nicely, ya know?

The blessings of free stuff!

As I am writing all the details of all my outfits for this blog, I am really amazed at how much of my clothes, jewelry, and even shoes have just been given to me! I am always amazed at the goodness of God, but it just hit me again when I saw it in writing!
Mondays are a fun day for me! I get to teach AND learn ;) I teach in the morning and afternoon, then at 6, I get to go to some classes that are offered through the Bible Institute at the church here. One of the pictures features me studying for my upcoming test in Spanish...yikes!!

Hick Chick

Super cheesy "fake" smile alert!

Who: J
When: 11/10/11
Where: BBQ with N's "team" from work
What: *Aviators (on head)- Panama Jack, Walmart, $10 *Blue & purple plaid flannel shirt- Arizona Jean Company, thrifted, $4 *Gray tank (under flannel shirt)- Target, on sale for $4 *Denim skirt- Cato's, shortened and obviously well-loved, approx $15 *Black tights- Walmart, $5 *Black boots- Apostrophe, Sears, $30 *Silver initial necklace- Gift from N (from Tiffany's!!!)

I've been looking for a plaid flannel shirt for quite some time now. I had a few criteria- I didn't want to pay too much for it, it had to be at least a little feminine, it had to be soft and just the right thickness, and I had to LOVE it. Well... guess what? I found this shirt at Goodwill, I think the colors and the way it fits me make it girl- appropriate (even though it's a man's shirt), it is SO soft and the right amount of "worn-in", and after wearing it for several hours (and the next morning for a quick donut run), I do truly LOVE it! I don't mind that it makes me look like a hick... After all, I am from a town of 3500 people where the "cool" thing to do is cruise up and down Haskell and turn around in the Circle K parking lot. This is my new favorite winter shirt... I wonder if I can wear it to church.... teasing (kind of)!

Blue bag special

Who: M
When: 11/6/11
Where: Sunday services at church
What: *Belted brown & white top-Catos, $12 *Light pink undershirt-Kmart, $7 *Brown skirt-Ross (2006), $7 *Pink heels with rose accent- gift *Jewelry- gifts *Blue purse- Jessica Simpson, Christmas gift *Bow-remake from a $1 headband

On this day,  I chose one of my fave pieces to wear- my belted top. I usually pair this top with a bright pink undershirt, but I wanted to add the turquoise accents so I chose the light pink instead. Sundays here in Guadalajara are SUPER long days, so I try to opt for comfort first and cute as a secondary objective, but in this outfit I have the perfect blend of both. I was planning on wearing my bangs straight across until I realized that needed to be cut if I planned on being able to see...lol...So here is how my hair turned out... not great, but I can't be perfect everyday, right?

I'm just a flag- waving American

Who: J
When: 11/11/11
Where: Lunch with N for Veterans Day
What: *Aviator sunglasses- Panama Jack, Walmart, $10 *Red hooded jacket- thrifted, $6 *White tee- Walmart, $3 *Camo scarf- KMart, $2 *Denim skirt- thrifted and shortened, $5 *Camo flats- Payless (2009), approx $15 *Coach bag- gift from N for 2nd wedding anniversary *Needlepoint Americana picture- thrifted, $1.

This is my red, white, and blue with camo outfit for Veteran's Day. I LOVE these flats... so much, in fact, that I wore them to my wedding. Yep, these are my wedding shoes! They are SO comfortable, and I've grown to love anything camo. In fact, when N was deployed last year, I bought anything camo I could get my hands on. That's why I own a camo scarf... and a camo purse... and a camo clutch... and probably other things I can't think of right now. It's kind of my thing.
N and I went to lunch today at Chili's. They were offering a free meal to all active duty and veterans. It was super crowded, but it was nice to see an organization giving back to our troops (Chili's wasn't the only place, by any means. There were lots of places giving out freebies or discounts today). It was a great lunch and as always, I was proud to be with my soldier!
