Red and Pink.. Together?

Who: M
When: 2/12/12
Where: Church, eating pazole (one of my favorite foods!!)
What: *Red skirt-H&M $10 *Black shirt-thrifted $2 *Tights-Walmart $5 *Pink undershirt-Kmart $7 *Shoes-gift *Red and pink jewelry-thrifted *Pink clutch-gift

Since this was red and pink week, I decided to go out on a limb and wear these colors together in a bold way! Let me just say, that I have never worn red and pink together like this, and I will probably not do it again in the near furture!! a few years ago I would never have worn this, but I have found as I grow more mature ( a tricky way to say older) I care less about whaat people think of how I am dressed. So I put the daring outfit on in the morning, and thought, "Can I really wear this to church?" But I did and I think it was a success...at least nobody told me otherwise. :)

P.S. We're participating in a link-up party over at EverybodyEverywear... head on over there to check out other pink & red outfits!

Couch Potato

Who: J
When: 2/11/12
Where: Visits for Sunday School, couch shopping
What: *White sweater- Target, on sale for like $7 *Grey tank- Target *Red linen skirt- gift from friend in college *Black flats- Payless *Necklace- Beall's Outlet in Willcox, AZ

I haven't worn this red skirt in a long time, for several reasons. First, it wouldn't zip for a while. Second, it wrinkles like nobody's business. And third, I never really know what to wear with it. Since we're featuring red and pink this week on the blog, I decided to dig this skirt out. I've been going to the gym and have lost a little weight, so the skirt zipped! Yay for me! I figured since we were just going shopping, it didn't really matter if it wrinkled a little, and I liked how the grey and white went with the red. Very simple! This was one of those outfits that I actually liked while I was wearing it AND in the pictures. I'll have to wear this skirt more in the future!

P.S. We didn't find a couch yet, but we did come home with 8 fish- a new pleco (named Bootstrap Bill) and 7 guppies.... go figure! ;)

Going Dotty

Who: M
When: 2/6/12
Where: Church, children's bus route, making carrot cake :)
What: *Black and white dress-Catos *Red shoes-Mexico *Flower headband-borrowed *Necklace-borrowed *Bracelet-dollar store *Rings-gift

Sundays are fun days here in Mexico!! I am always super busy, but it is a good busy! My day starts off early- around 6am, no lazy weekends here! By 7 or 7:30 it is off to the bus route. Once we have the bus filled to overflowing (we once had 130 on a 70 passenger bus!) it is off to church we go... once there, I head to the 2-4 year old class. By the time church is over (around 1:30ish), I am tired and hungry! It is a good tired, though...lol. This particular Sunday was no different! After church, I headed over to the Pastor's house for lunch. Once there we decided to make carrot cake- my favorite!!! The only twist in the story is I had never made it from scratch before... thankfully, the cake was scrumptious!!

Oh, about my outfit! This is one of my all time favorite dresses! It is a fun print and can be accesorized in so many colors and ways. I really liked how the red added some pizzaz to the black and white. Cool fact about the dress is that it has pockets!! Which I LOVE, although sometimes I forget...lol

Pink and Red Accessories

With all the pink and red talk, I thought I'd share some fun accessories for Valentine's Day. These are all relatively inexpensive, and can be found online or in stores that a majority of people have access to.

I created this set using Polyvore. If you haven't checked this site out yet, you really need to! It lets you post individual items and then put them all together into one outfit, or room, or whatever. And it saves all the links and prices so you know where to find what you posted. It's another site that I can spend hours on if I'm not careful.

Anyway... enjoy these ideas on how to Valentine-ize your outfits!

Pink Slip

Who: J
When: 2/8/12
Where: Midweek service at church
What: *Pink top- Walmart *Khaki skirt- thrifted *Black cardigan- Walmart *Black flats- Payless *Pink scarf- prize from Mary Kay *Coach bag- gift from N *Hoop earrings- Beall's Outlet

I had originally planned to wear a red sweater with this top, but I didn't like the length of the sweater with the length f the shirt and it just didn't look "right." So I wore a black cardigan instead, and threw on a pink scarf. I didn't use to wear a lot of "same, but different" colors together (the pink in the scarf isn't the same pink in the top), but I've been experimenting with it more lately and I'm liking some of the stuff that I'm discovering. I'm definitely more willing to step out of my box and try new things since M and I have started this blog.

We'll have to come up with more outfits showing pink and red TOGETHER... something else I don't usually wear together... The Kate Spade Kindle case my husband bought for me is pink and red striped, so maybe I'll use that as my inspiration. Or maybe I'll take a page from M's styling book and do neutrals with pops of red and pink... hmmm... so many possibilities!

Think Pink Shoes

Who: M
When: 1/16/12
Where: Teaching school
What: *Black skirt-thrifted *White shirt-gift *Light pink undershirt-Kmart *Green beads-gift *Green flower-gift *Pink shoes-Mexican street market

So Monday morning, back to the grind! I love green and pink together (I actually love just about every color combination! lol) but I think in this outfit the colors did not pop as much as I wanted...maybe next time I will wear a dark pink undershirt. At any rate, it is what it is! This was a typical Monday is every aspect... from my hair being annoying, to my students being sleepy, to bad attitudes... the whole lot of it! The good thing is that there is only one Monday per week!! Could you imagine a week of Mondays? I am thankful that Monday comes but once a week!

Red and Pink Week

Who: J
When: 2/6/12
Where: Ladies' fellowship at church
What: *Red cardigan- Target *Flower-y dress- thrifted, $9 *White tank- I think maybe Walmart *Brown boots- Chadwick's

Why is my face not in some of these pictures, you ask? In the pictures where I like how the pose looked, I was making weird faces... and the pictures where I like my facial expression, I was standing weird or the dress was poofing out... so, I'm chopped up in pieces... well, my pictures are, at least.

This week starts our "red and pink" week for our "month of color." I bought this dress a while back at Twice As Nice in Sierra Vista. It's a little big on me, which can make it poof out weird if I don't button a sweater just right over it, but the flowers make me feel very pretty and lady-like. I like that it's kind of Valentine-y. Check back every day to see what M and I come up for red and pink!
