A Penny Saved...

What: *Green tee- Old Navy *Turquoise tank- Target *Denim skirt- thrifted & shortened *Shoes- Walmart *Cross-body bag- Beall's Outlet, Az *Necklace & Earrings- gift from N, Afghanistan

On this day, I friend and I took a trip waaaay across town and went to a couple of thrift stores on the west side of El Paso. We found some great stuff!! My friend was able to find several cute tops and a skirt or two, and I found a leather jacket for N... a J. Crew leather jacket... a REAL leather jacket... for $12.50!!!!! I also got a few pieces of jewelry for myself.

I chose this outfit for thrifting because I wanted to be comfortable, and I wanted to be able to change clothes easily. Whenever I'm going shopping, I try to remember to wear a fairly simple outfit that won't be a pain to take off and put back on... so, no scarves or long necklaces or dresses folded down into skirts for me today... ;)

Writer's Block

What: *Skirt-gift *Shirt-NY&C *Shoes-gift *Necklace, bracelet, and earrings-Premiere Jewelry *Watch-gift

Ok, so I am having a SERIOUS case of mental block or writer's block or whatever...I cannot think of one thing to say about this outfit or day. It was a Sunday, church, lunch, church....nothing out of the ordinary. Apart from the fact that I super LOVE the sandals, but have pretty much come to the conclusion that my toes are too long for these sandals since they were almost hanging off the front...lol. Not much else of interest here :)

Where: Church
What: *Turquoise sweater- Cato's *Grey tank- Target *Black skirt- Old Navy *Black belt- Walmart *Black shoes- KMart *Sequined scarf- Claire's in Indiana

This was one of those outfits that I kept tugging at all day because it didn't want to stay in the right place. Do you ever have those? When you look in the mirror, it looks great, but as the day goes on, you realize that anytime you move, something is going to go a little bit haywire? :) I took these pics in the afternoon, after I had already been to church, so that's why the skirt is all wrinkled and my hair is a little messed up... I promise I did iron my clothes and do my hair before I went out in the morning!!

Tired of Black and White

What: *Skirt-gift from my sister *Shirt-Ann Taylor, thrifted *Flowered headband-Forever 21 *Necklace-Dots *Shoes-Target *Earrings-Catos

First, I want to apologize for the TERRIBLE hair in these pictures...I was having a bad hair day to start off with and these were taken LATE in the afternoon... One thing I have discovered, a flower does not fix a bad hair day...sometimes it makes it worse...lol. These were taken outside my house in Mexico...trying to get a little creative in my pictures...trying. This particular day, I was having a I HATE black and white day...lol... I sometimes have those. I try to make the black and white as diverse as possible, but there is only so much one can do... At any rate this is me LATE in the afternoon, bad hair day and all!!

Ribbit!

Who: J
When: 3/30/12
Where: Ladies' conference at church
What: *Grey sweater- Cato's *Green top- Old Navy, thrifted *Turquoise tank- Target *Skirt- Made by me with some leftover fabric *Shoes- Cato's *Clutch- Thrifted (it was made in the Philippines!) *Necklace- gift from thrift store owner in Indiana

This was such a fun night! The theme of the ladies' conference at our church was FROG (fully rely on God), and everything went along with the theme perfectly! The tables had frogs and lily pads scattered all over them, and the gym was decorated with tons of greenery... there was even a frog and cricket soundtrack playing! I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures of the gym, so you'll just have to take my word for it... bummer...

I sang with the Ladies' Ensemble, so I wanted to make sure I "went" with the whole green theme... I had fabric left over from a dress I made last year, so I made this skirt that would match with all of the colors I wanted to wear. I also found the straw clutch at Goodwill... and it was half off! So I ended up paying $2 for it! $2!!! Love me some thrift stores! ;)

Tangerine Ideas

Do any of you follow the Pantone color reports? Every year- every season, really-, Pantone comes out with "the colors" that are going to be popular. This year's color is Tangerine Tango, a beautiful, orange-y coral-y color. I've been keeping my eye out at thrift store for some pieces in this color (or at least close!). So far, I haven't really found anything, but I'll keep looking! Until then, here are some ideas of what I'd like to wear in tangerine...

Not So Matchy Matchy

Who: J
When: 3/28/12
Where: Midweek service at church
What: *Grey sweater- Cato's *Purple tank- Walmart *Skirt- Lane Bryant, thifted (originally $30, I bought it for $2.50!!!!) *Sandals- Cato's *Necklace- Kohl's

I got this fabulous skirt at Goodwill on Monday & I couldn't wait to build an outfit around it! I've been working on experimenting with color combos, so I thought I'd try a little purple on purple. I'm not sure how much I like this top with this skirt, but I'm glad I at least tried it!

On another note, I'm not sure why I am making such a cheesy face in all these pictures... ;)
