So, I'm not sure if wearing a denim jacket over my outfit really counts as cheating on 30 for 30 challenge... I did tell myself that coats, jackets, etc. didn't really count as I just wear them for warmth... Whatever the case, I didn't wear this jacket for very long. It ended up being beautiful outside and I didn't need a coat. As you can see, I had my hair up in a little pouf, but decided I didn't like it and took it down... I do that... a lot... I'm still trying to decide if I love this color on me or if I think it makes me look a little too pink. I'm very fair skinned, and have a tendency to be "ruddy" so pinks sometimes make me look to flushed. Since this shirt is part of my 30 items, I'll probably be wearing it a lot the next few weeks, so maybe I'll have decided by then.

P.S. The post title "Pinky Gladys Gutzman" is from the hilarious Junie B. Jones books. I started reading them in college while I was studying to be a teacher, and they still crack me up. Seriously, you have to check them out! Yes, I know they're for grade schoolers... just pretend you're doing research or something... ;)

Shades of Grey

Another of my favorite days..the day after Christmas with the family...why? Because it is the day I get to wear/use all my great gifts! I have to tell the truth about my awesome Christmas gifts, I got to pick them out! We always exchange names so that each of us (as grown siblings) get one nice present. Well, my mom chose me and had no idea what to get me, so we went shopping! What a great gift in itself...lol. At any rate, I was able to get this entire outfit for the $50 price limit we had set! So that was super awesome!

I really LOVE this dress! I plan on wearing it lots in Mexico! It actually has short sleeves and I think can be made more "summery" if I add the purply color jewelry instead of the grey. Looking back on these pictures, I feel I look overly grey, but oh well... My other favorite part of this outfit is the shoes! They are SUPER comfortable and cute! Did you see the awesomely cute bow on the back! LOVE it!!

Rereading this post, I think I sound like a teenager... ;)

Ray of Sunshine (#4 of 30 for 30)

This was one of those days were I was feeling a little lazy and didn't feel like putting together a multi- colored, multi- layered outfit. I would have just thrown on a John Deere hoodie and called it an outfit, but... I knew I needed to to take pictures for the blog and I have the 30 for 30 challenge going on, so I can only wear certain items. This cream hoodie and black tank top are the closest to the John Deere hoodie I could get, so that's what I threw on. I added the yellow necklace for a spot of brightness (or a ray of sunshine, if you like). 

I found this necklace at a thrift store in Indiana (somewhere in the Elkhart area) and it was going to be something like $3. We were shopping with my mother in law, and when I went up to pay, she told the store owner that my husband had just got back from Afghanistan a few weeks before. The store owner insisted that I take the necklace as a gift and wrapped it all up in pretty tissue paper for me. It was totally unexpected and very sweet! Neither N nor I expect people to give us anything or do anything for us because of his service, but it really touched my heart that she was so grateful. 

New Haircut (#3 of 30 for 30)

I finally went and got my hair cut! I don't think it really looks that much different, the layers are just re-shaped and more defined. And it's much thinner which equals much more manageable. I really like it!

This is another one of my outfits in the 30 for 30 challenge. So far, it hasn't been too hard building outfits from my 30 items, but we'll see what happens when it gets toward the end of the month. This khaki skirt is more comfortable than I remember it being, so I'm glad this challenge is going to force me to wear it more often. 

Christmas Clover

Christmas with family!!! One of my favorite times of the year!!! Great to see all the family again plus get to eat the MOST amazing lasagna ever- so glad to have a dad that can cook!! Also, I got to dress for the holiday again! I was the most dressed up of our group, but I really wanted to look festive! My mom said I looked like an elf...

This was an outfit that actually had me step out of my box for several reasons... 1) although all the colors worked together separately, I was not too sure about the vest with the shirt; 2)the vest has horizontal stripes on the back; 3) the boots are not my fave, although I do like them ALOT more than I did when I bought them! But I think all in all it was a super cute outfit!

The "extras" in my pics are my sister's dog (Clover), who would settle for nothing less than being included in the photos and my nephew who is just too super cute to not add! Actually he had a Santa suit on, but I did not his pic with my camera...still waiting for that pic from my sister...I will add it later when I get it.

It Ain't Easy Being Green (#2 of 30 for 30)

Here's outfit #2 in the 30 for 30 challenge. Although I love this dress, I was not thrilled with my look that day because MY STUPID HAIR WAS BEING CRAZY... whew... glad I got that out of my system. Seriously, some days my hair drives me nuts. It was my own fault because I put it back in a braid when it was wet so I could go to the gym, and then when I took it down, I let it dry the rest of the way naturally. So I had crimpy waves from the braid AND curly waves from what my hair does all by itself... which equaled frustration for me! Anyway... that's over now and you can see my wonderful outfit. I'm not sure if the string necklace thing is cool or weird, but I like it! Maybe it's a mix of both... which I'm ok with!

This is my first outfit in the 30 for 30 challenge I've given myself. I love purple and turquoise together! It's so funny because just a few short years ago, I was thinking about wearing this scarf with turquoise and thought it would be too gaudy... my, how things have changed! Maybe sometime I'll put this sweater and scarf together with some teal and then I'll really look like a peacock... I think a trip to Charming Charlies for some feather earrings is in order. ;)
