Ok, first of all, let me just say that since I do not have a designated picture taker, I often forget to take pictures or just feel odd asking people to take lots of pictures of just me. That being said, the pictures without my coat, I took myself using the timer on my camera...just to let you know...

Well, if you have been reading our blog for any length of time, you probably have figured out that I heart thrift stores! So you can imagine that I was excited about this shopping excursion! It turned out to be rather fruitful- you will see some of the cute things I bought in future posts, not to worry! After shopping, we headed out to eat. Finding a restaurant without an hour long wait proved to be a tad difficult, but Chipotle's solved that problem! After Chipotle's, we went to Red Mango, which is a frozen yogurt shop! Can you say YUM!?!

Good day altogether! Now to the outfit, I knew that we were going to be outside a bit on this day, so I chose the boots in order to keep my feet warm. I decided to take the pics with and without my coat since it is almost a permanent part of my outfit here!

This was my outfit(s) for the day of my husband's birthday dinner. The dinner was Star Wars themed (if you couldn't tell by the Princess Leia buns) and was a ton of fun! You can read all about the details of the dinner on my personal blog. I wore two different outfits because I had to clean and get everything set up (and I wanted to make sure I wasn't cheating on my 30 for 30 challenge), but I also wanted to wear something Star Wars themed for the dinner (otherwise the buns would just be silly... lol).


As part of the birthday celebration, I also took some silly Star Wars themed(ish) pictures for N. As a special bonus I thought I'd share a couple of those with you (lucky you, right?). These are supposed to represent the "dark side" and the "light side" .... and yes, I know I'm a little crazy... ;) but it was a lot of fun!!

This was a WONDERFUL day! Not much to tell about though because I got up at noon, did nothing all day. Then I showered and got ready for church, ate dinner, went to church, and came home! Gotta LOVE vacation! I would like to mention about my outfit- the skirt is one I got at a thrift store at least 6 years ago, took it to China when I lived there, lost a bunch a weight, and had to have the skirt taken in...and now I am too attached to it to get rid of it! Oh, and I like to occasionally add a pic of my photographer of the day, and today's was my dad!

Neutral Territory (#8 of 30 for 30)

Where: Grocery shopping, picking up last minute stuff for N's birthday dinner

This outfit was another lazy outfit. I didn't want to really think too hard about colors, so I decided to go with a more neutral palette. I definitely should have worn tights and boots, though, because I overestimated how warm it was outside. Oh well, I just had to run in and out of the store in the cold so it wasn't too bad. I think this will end up being another one of the outfits I discover through my 30 for 30 challenge that I'll end up wearing again. I feel like it looks casual, but still pulled together. 

Oh, and I apologize for the blurriness of the pictures. I was in a hurry, and I didn't realize the pictures were so blurry until later. I think you can still get the general idea of the outfit, though!

Turquoise and Red Part II (#7 of 30 for 30)

Turquoise and red is quickly becoming one of my favorite color combinations. I like how the red provides just the right amount of contrast to make both colors really pop. Plus, I got to wear my red heels! I bought these shoes to wear to the airport to pick N up when he came home for R&R from Afghanistan in November of 2010. They're not the most comfortable shoes, but I think they're gorgeous! I did end up switching them to boots for the evening service, but that's only because it was raining and I didn't want to ruin the satin on these shoes.

This is outfit #7 in my 30 for 30 challenge. I'm not really having trouble putting together outfits yet, but I am wishing I had included some more casual options... but I think it will really push me outside of just throwing on the same old, same old and make me come up with some new ideas (like this outfit!).

Sock It To Me

This was one of those fun days that I do NOT want to repeat!! So you would think that at age 31 I would know better than to do certain things, but... So here is the story, I took one of my friends out shopping on this the day after Christmas. Having been in retail for serval years, one would think I would remember the craziness of this day, but no, I did not! Let's just sum it up in one brief word: BUSY!!! I was amazed at how many people were out shopping! Cars, and cars, and MORE cars!!! On the upside I did get a few good deals! So I guess it was worth braving the traffic and SUPER long lines (several stores had lines going clear out the door!!)!

Then back home to spend the last evening with my sister, Jamie, and her husband! I come from a family of five siblings, and we have always been close, so it is sad to see Jamie moving away! But I am glad that we got to get together with everyone before she left! I will miss them, especially Clover their Siberian Huskie who thought she belonged in all my blog pictures!

Oh, I did not talk at all about my outfit...hmmm, let's see. Have I mentioned yet that I have been FREEZING since getting to Indiana! So my undershirt in this outfit is actually a long-sleeved shirt! Turquoise and pink one of my all time favorite color combonations! Of course, long jean skirt, a staple in the clothing department. :) Don't you just love the spice that my hot pink knee socks add to this outfit? There you have it; oh, one more secret, I am also wearing leggings under my skirt! I HATE being cold!! ;)

Welsh Pears (#6 of 30 for 30)

Where: Running errands with N (pet store for heater for turtle tank, Savers, Lowes for lumber for turtle tank stand, Walgreen's to rent Mr. Popper's Penguins)

Did you know that Paisley is sometimes referred to as "Welsh Pears" or "Persian Pickles" and that it originated in Iran and India, but takes its name from a town in Scotland? Interesting, right? Glad I could help you learn something new today ;)

We're picking up our turtle this next weekend from my cousin who has been watching him for us, so we have been trying to get everything set up. I bought a cabinet thingie (technical DIY name) at Goodwill for $15 and we bought a couple of pieces of shelving lumber at Lowe's. N attached the lumber to the top of the cabinet and now we have a stand for Fishsticky (our turtle). I just need to decide what color to paint it... and no, painting clothes don't count as part of the 30 for 30 challenge!
