Birthday Skirt
Who: J
When: 12/4/11
Where: Church
What: *Grey top- Target, on sale for $4 *Black cardigan- Walmart, a long long time ago *Pink scarf- Mary Kay, prize *Hounds tooth checked skirt- Cato, approx. $20 *Tights- Walmart *Boots- Sears *Earrings- Cato, $7 *Flower pin- Beall's Outlet in Willcox, AZ *Purse- Nine West, Ross
This outfit is from the day before my birthday (I know, that was a while ago) and I call it my birthday skirt because it was my gift to myself for my last birthday (2010). I really like this skirt, but I don't wear it very much because it's one of those articles of clothing that if you wear it too much people will definitely notice. I mean, you can probably get away with wearing a grey skirt every other Sunday, or a denim skirt every day (not that I do that or anything.... hee hee), but a black and white checked skirt makes a statement. Looking at these pictures, I'm really pleased with how the pink adds a little pop of color. I think I'll have to wear this outfit again soon!
***Note from J: I've been battling a cold since Saturday and haven't really worn any "outfits"... unless camo flannel pants and a Chicago Bears tee count as an outfit... Anywho, I thought I'd FINALLY share this post with you that I wrote a few months ago but never posted. Enjoy!! ****
Bowl Me Over
Who: M
When: 3/3/12
Where: Soulwinning, Starbucks, dinner, and bowling!
What: *Turquoise skirt-gift *White shirt-thrift *Pink necklace-thrifted *Headband-borrowed *Purse-borrowed *Shoes-rented...lol
This was a fun outfit- turquoise, pink, and white...such a fun color combo! My day started off way too early for a Saturday... First to the bus meeting then out to visit for the church! It was a beautiful sunny day here in Guadalajara. After visiting, it was off to Plaza del Sol to do some shopping and go to Starbucks. Then off to dinner and bowling with a bunch of the singles at the church! That was SUPER fun!! The best part of bowling was beating everybody!! :) I like to win!
Zig-Zag
Who: J
When: 3/3/12
Where: Visiting for church, lunch, thrift shopping
What: *Denim jacket- Ross *Teal top- Kohl's *Skirt- KMart, actually a dress with the top folded down *Shoes- Walmart *Coach bag- gift from N
This outfit features another one of my maxi dresses that I folded the top down on to wear as a skirt. That's becoming a dangerous habit, I think. ;)
As you can see, it was very bright out that day! I should have just left my shades on. Instead, I tried that thing where you leave your eyes closed until the photographer counts to 3, and then you open your eyes. It didn't really work... I was still squinting!
Positively Pink Peep Toes
Who: M
When: 2/9/12
Where: School, tutoring, soulwinning, and church
What: *Pink flower headband-Charming Charlies *White shirt-NY&C *Skirt-thrifted *Undershirt-Walmart *Shoes-Mexican street market *Bracelet and earrings-Mary Kay prize *Necklace-Premier Jewelry
Some of you may remember my flower headband from an earlier posting, but this is one of my favorite things! It was a great deal too, only $1!!! The weather here has been a bit chilly for the last few weeks, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna freeze to death if I wore these shoes, or not. I opted to wear them anyway, which meant I had to paint my toenails... I must say that I regretted wearing them by the end of the evening because as we walked home after church, I thought I was going to lose a toe or two to the cold!
Apart from the fact that I thougth I was going to freeze, I really liked this outfit! But then again, pink is one of my favorite colors!
Month of Color Recap
Our month of color is over! It's always fun to push yourself to try new things and step outside of your comfort level a little! Here, for your viewing pleasure ;), are some of the outfits we came up with this month to highlight different colors:
Maxi-mum Impact
Who: J
When: 2/29/12
Where: Midweek service at church
What: *Denim jacket- Ross *White shirt- Walmart *Scarf- Claire's in Indiana, on sale for $2! *Skirt- (actually a folded- down dress) KMart *Shoes- Kmart *Earrings- 1928, gift from N *Bag- Kathy Van Zeeland, gift from M (bow added by me)
On the day that I wore this outfit, I really really really wanted to wear a maxi skirt.... buuuuttt... I didn't own one- yet! Then I remembered this dress and realized that I could probably fold the top down and wear it as a skirt. Brilliant, I know! ;) I love love love how it turned out! So comfy! I may actually cut the top to make it a better waistband just so the waist isn't all roll-y and wadded up. I don't need any extra rolls! ;)
To help me decide what to wear with my "new" skirt, I turned to my current obsession, I mean addiction, I mean research tool... Pinterest! I found these two pictures, and used them as inspiration for my outfit... what do you think?
